Tiger the Parakeet

Our parakeet Tiger has been kinda sick lately. His beak grows and grows until it touches his chest. A month ago we took him to the pet shop and had his beak clipped. The girls at the pet shop said that he had lice and recommended that we buy spray to get rid of the lice. So, Marshal has been spraying him and his beak is still growing. I have clipped his beak twice with nail clippers. Meghan held him the last time that I clipped his beak and she said that she would not hold him the next time that I clipped his beak because she thinks that it hurts him. ANYWAY.... we stopped by the pet shop today ( bad idea) and talked to another lady about Tiger. She told us that some of Tiger's problem was that he was bored. She quizzed us about his diet, amount of toys in his cage, how many hours of quiet time he gets, if we cover him at night, did we have any candles in our house etc. etc. We felt like we were mistreating our beloved bird. So needless to say, we came out of the pet shop with toys for the bird, toys for the kids to make for the bird, special color enhancing bird seed, a play box that the bird can tear apart and of course a disc for his cage to keep the lice away. That lady was quite the salesman !!!!
We'll post a pic of Tiger later....

Our Yard

I have really work hard on our yard this year. I started in early spring with planting a garden. The children helped alot with the planting. We had some pea plants that took a long time to come up due to the depth that the kids planted the seeds. My flowers are all looking beautiful, so I took some pictures.

New Swimming Pool !

The other day I finally caved in and bought the kids a swimming pool. It is 12 feet in diameter and about 36 inches deep. I don't fill it up all the way, so it really isn't that deep. Maycee absolutely loves it!! She would swim all day and all night if we let her. Meghan loves it too! Marshal has only swam once. It was a real pain to try to find a level spot in our backyard to set it up in. We ended up setting it up on the cement patio.
